This Privacy Statement applies to the website poetalan.com.au (the “Site”), operated by Poet Alan (“I”, “me”, or “my”). I am committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. Information I do not collect

I do not operate user accounts, enable comments, or host contact forms on this Site. As a result:

  • I do not collect your name, email address, IP address (via forms), or any other personal information you actively provide.
  • I do not require registration to read poems.

2. Automatic collection (web hosting & logs)

Like almost all websites, my web hosting provider may automatically record certain non‑identifiable information in server logs, such as:

  • Your browser type and version
  • Your operating system
  • The date and time of your visit
  • The pages you view
  • Your approximate geographic region (usually at a city or region level, but not your precise location)

This data is used only for:

  • Security and troubleshooting (e.g., preventing denial‑of‑service attacks)
  • Understanding aggregate visitor numbers (e.g., how many people read a poem)

These logs are retained by the hosting provider and are not sold, traded, or shared with third parties for marketing purposes. Under the APPs, log data that cannot reasonably identify an individual is generally not considered “personal information”.

Within a reasonable time, I will respond in accordance with APP 12 and 13.

If you believe I have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, please contact me first (details below). I will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with my response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.

I may update this statement from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new “Effective Date”. Because I collect no personal information, no active notice to you (e.g., by email) is possible or required.
